I'm actually kinda surprised that Washington isn't leading. Its shopping probably isn't too far behind places like Chicago and San Francisco, and it has some of the best museums that America has to offer, in addition to all of the national monuments.

Thats actually probably the problem, all the popular sites are pretty much just museums and American landmarks that international tourist probably don't care for. people coming all the way to America want to see Times Square, Las Vegas Strip, Disneyworld, the Beaches of Miami and Honolulu.

I just don't like the majority of the employees, all the technology they use is pretty cool, the people operating them just need to chill out.

I get what you're saying, but cities like those weren't even listed in the poll. There are some that do have beaches, but it looks like the OP was trying to eliminate destinations that are almost solely picked due to beaches and or theme parks, in addition the typical go to cities like NYC and LA.

Nothing against Boston or San Francisco either, but they wouldn't have been my choice over Washington.
