I found this site quite by accident a little earlier on, and found it interesting.

It's a slideshow of ten of the world's strangest prisons. The photos are accompanied by a brief description of the prisons.

I found a couple of the prisons to be very surprising - maybe you will as well.

Ottawa has turned it's old prison downtown into a hostel. It's really cool and I have slept there. Apparently it's considered one of the most haunted places in Canada.
