surprised to see so many chinese cities (a total of 8) in the global top 20, 5 from Mainland, plus 3 Chinese speaking cities: HK, Taibei, and Singapore. In comparison, US only has 3 and Europe has 3

I'm somewhat proud to see that São Paulo has more billionaries than Paris... although it doesn't means many things, since there is a lot of poor people living here.
Its because the Chinese are more selfish than most other nationalities in the world.
That is true, but that's not the real reason. It's more because of the large city population. In Europe and North America cities barely get more than 5 million residents, while in Asia you can't turn your head without hitting a 10 million+ city, so of course there'd be more billionaires by heads. If you go by capita than most of these Chinese cities would go way down the list while cities like Frankfurt or Stockholm could get on top.
If you look at top 10 richest it's 8 Americans 1 European and 1 Mexican. Sickening to be honest. More money than they could ever burn but except a few they do fvck all for the development of society.
Here is some good ideas. Nobody will ever agree to a great extent in our lifetimes but hopefully, alturism is the way it is heading. ''I have enough to be happy and here take the rest to save other people''

I am not surprised at all ...take a country with a lot of potential and cheap labor....that's a great combination for creating billionaires.
Shenzhen is a great example of that. That city "exploded" economically such an incredible growth.
Mumbai and Delhi are the surprises on this list for me. Yes they are huge cities but still, quite impressive thr amount of Billionaires.
Not only because of its population. Look at Singapore, Taiwan and HK. Chinese are very entrepreneural. In fact, most billionnaires in southeast Asian countries like Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia are Chinese

True my ass. Hong Kong and Singapore are two go-to cities for money laundering and tax evasion, of course there'd be lots of filthy rich people doing what rich people do. Taiwan has only the normal amount of billionaires for the size, Australia has the same population and they probably have more. Or the entire Scandinavia, they have about the same population and I bet they have more as well.
