Is Istanbul safe? I'm referring to the likelihood of being subjected to petty crime.
Crime rates in Istanbul are below average for a city of its size, but the crime you do get is concentrated at big tourist attractions, as it is in Paris and other big European cities. So it's basically safe as long as you use good common sense, but there is some crime. So from a North American perspective it's probably safer then Philadelphia but not as safe as Toronto.
