I live in a strata 3 house in Colombia too (there are 6 stratas) and we own a car. That makes us technically lower middle class (based on the neighbourhood we live in). However, that neighbourhood (the one posted above) is really far, like miles away, from even be considered to be a good looking neighbourhood. It looks depressing as hell and ugly.

never heard such opinion from people living in the same city but in a different neighbourhood, or from people coming to visit. quite the opposite. people from other hoods think this is a "rich" barrio, despite not being that much different from the rest of the city in terms of income.

for me, the hood you posted looks a bit more depressing because dry climate and lack of mountains around, but it's just my taste. Also I don't see many cars but, instead, motorbikes, but that's another matter.

Actually there are mountains. See last picture. It's Santa Marta, it's surrounded by mountains and the sea.

And yeah, the pics don't show a lot of cars but you will stumble upon a sizeable amount of them in this neighbourhood. My main concern regarding the neighbourhood is its planning, which it seems to lack. Streets are somewhat narrow and some streets have so sidewalks.

I don't really see it as depressing really. The atmosphere is different, it's sunny and happy and houses give a different vibe compared to the ones you posted. There are more trees, too.

This pic is on the opposite side of the street no front yards but there are gardens in the back often with orange trees, fig trees, and grape vines with grassy areas and flower gardens. This is where my mother was brought up.

Just put a down-payment on my first place in Bogota, planning for a move by next year. This will be my future neighbourhood: https://goo.gl/maps/FC2e1gBgQFT2

There's anything from apartment buildings to rowhomes to detached homes in the neighborhood (pics from me from last summer):

Not all that far from Alfortville actually! In the northern 94 just north of the bois de Vincennes.
