It's still very new to the USA as a professional sport.
Kids have grown up with baseball in the U.S. since 1869, Football since 1920, Basketball since 1946. Soccer here started for youth in high school PE back in the late 60's in some places, the real push for organized youth soccer in about 1974, with the older generation X kids now in their 40s. While it's still wildly popular with the kids, the professional MLS soccer has only been around since 1993. Here in Seattle it's very popular with sellouts every game, but then we have many immigrants from countries where soccer is religious, and for some reason it seems to be popular with the millennial "tech bros."
Seattle has been the best MLS city for fan support, and Portland is also very good. The NHL is coming with the Seattle Kraken! Seattle has a legendary history in hockey with The Seattle Metropolitans defeating the powerful Montreal Canadiens in 1917, becoming the first American team to win The Stanley Cup.
I am relaxed, and I notice you haven't actually answered my question!
In my opinion the British poster your talking about, who has far more interesting posts than you, doesn't accuse people of lying, was just not answering my question satisfactory. You need to just accept that, and let it go, as I have.

You STILL haven't answered my question!! I'm not surprised you want to 'let it go' because you realise that what you.claim he said he basically didn't no!?

I still think you and him are not taking enough responsibility for all the English racist crap, among English supporters. There are you happy now? Also the booing of the opposition national anthems was another disgrace. But you will probably say they weren't really booing, or it was just a few, or other countries do it. We in America never boo opposition national anthems, because it is disrespectful. In 1980 at the legendary "Miracle on Ice" in beautiful Lake Placid, when the USA stunned the mighty USSR hockey team during the height of the cold war. The Soviet anthem was not booed by the American fans.
Could there be a shortage of soccer balls in America?
No but any large flat field will have had baseball and American football youth leagues reserving the space for generations. Youth soccer has forced its way in but school boys and men are discouraged from the sport to save roster space for girls and women's sports
So true! American/Canadian Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Hockey are the 4 best sports in the world. Our youth are truly fortunate!
Exactly.
I've been hearing the same thing for 40 years: soccer will take over America. The youth who play it will keep watching when they grow up, creating a huge fan base for professional soccer.
I've yet to see it happen.
Even in cities that have MLS teams, soccer is still a very niche sport with a very narrow fanbase.
It's kind of like saying professional dodgeball is going to supplant the NFL just because a bunch of kids play it.
