Then vote out the Labour party. Labour would not hold power if the British people simply voted them out.

Unfortunately the alternative choice is the conservatives and I could NEVER vote for them. They also voted for the war and have no social conscience at all. Thatcher brought the country to its knees and I am not going to allow this to happen by voting for David Cameron. I just wish the labour party had had the spine to have a vote of "no confidence" against Bliar and got him out of office. As we have no proportional representation we basically have a choice between Labour and the Tories. I just keep hoping Brown will be better than Bliar.

Well, just start voting for Lib Dems, or Respect candidates, or whatever it takes to get Labour and the Tories out of power. It's in your hands.

The quotes above show in graphic detail the dilemma facing socialists.

I believe there is value in voting someone out, ie, tactical voting, and it remains even when as in this case the culprit has left office. Brown has had many opportunities to call a halt to the excesses of Bliar and is responsible for what has happened.

What we have lived through, and still are I suppose, is a charade, Bliar is a bigger liar than he first appears. He was and is a Tory and so de facto are his team.

By all means wait for the promise of the Labour Party pre 1997, a promise, veiled nonetheless, for PR. Or vote these charlatans out. After all, at least you would know who the enemy is.

I am American and I feel that Bush and his cronies have done great damage to the world as well as our own country. One and one half years from now I hope we can see a better choice take office. I think he is getting to be a lame duck now, though.

I agree with Sweden's comments. I read most of my news online, and I usually read BBC in order to read world news, because the U.S. news is mostly about the U.S. However, I am struck that those other sites have a so much U.S. news. People in other countries just hear so much more about the U.S. than we do about other countries. For example, I don't think the recent floods in the UK were even mentioned in our news, but BBC had a story about flooding in the U.S.

Yes, to an extent. Many people around the world may never met an American in person. Their only experience will be through the media where U.S. Presidents are showcased considerably due to the amount of power and influence the U.S. has over world events. Being exceedingly diverse, not all Americans are like George "Dub-ya" Bush.

Unfortunately I don't find the Lib Dems a suitable alternative , and they have no chance of ever being elected ( I don't like wasting my precious vote) either so Labour is my only option. Maybe I should join Labour with the philosophy of changing it from within with all the other members.

If you are stuck here Mooseketeer then yes try to change from within, The assault by New Labour in our area was very complete and these guys all belong to the trouser leg brigade and the only way out of their control was to get Tory in, sad but it worked, N Labour has lost it's grip here and socialists (old Labour) can again fight, although it has to be said this new Tory is more Labour than the New Labour ever was.

When the New Labour MP before the last election was questioned about the war he refused to answer even though he had supported it and TB at every vote.

What chance the electorate when this sort of switching takes place.
