While searching through my poetry for the last poem (above), I came across a poem I would like to share.
Back in 2001 I belonged to an online poetry group that offered challenges in our writings. One such challenge involved using a list of words at the end of each sentence and then using these same words in subsequent verses and in a specific order. (This type of poetry is called a Sestina. Poetic Form: Sestina- Poets.org - Poetry, Poems, Bios & More )
It just so happened that the words to this poem came to me the night of the disaster in New York.
Since this year marks the tenth anniversary of the Twin Tower collapse, I thought there was no better time to share this.

Fatal Dance

The morning was bright with sunshine
that bounced off the waters on the rocky
shore behind the plane in flight.
And though they could not see the mountains,
they were always there in spirit -
always harbored within their dreams.

Each one of them had their separate dreams
that danced in their brains like rays of sunshine.
And they held fast to the spirit
of a life that at times grows rocky.
For they've always known that beyond the mountains
is a soul waiting to take flight.

Just as a bird revels in flight -
giving rise to all its inner dreams -
it knows that over the mountains
the dawn still brings the warming sunshine.
So, too, the people know that rocky
roads can awaken their own spirit.

So the people joined in spirit
on that early morning flight;
and the ride grew rocky,
and all their dreams
of dancing in the sunshine
fell dark behind the mountains.

It was concrete and steel, instead of mountains,
that caught their eye and captured their spirit.
As their eyes were blinded by bright sunshine
that glistened on the wings of the plane in flight,
down below the homes of their dreams
receded as turbulence caused the plane to get rocky.

Their eyes opened wide as the rocky
plane - so far from the mountains
that danced within their dreams,
and gave rise to their spirit -
on this untimely ill-fated flight,
crashed in the morning sunshine.

Now the rocky plane has released their spirit
to the mountains where their souls take flight,
ending all their dreams in the morning sunshine.

Now that the solemnness of 9-11 is over, I've decided to post a much lighter poem.
I've been writing poetry all my life. One day, some years back, a male friend told me I could probably write about anything. He then challenged me to write a poem about dog poo - and here it is:

In The Park

I was taking a walk in the park last night
it's considered a special treat
I was gazing around, my eyes far ahead
I never looked down at my feet

I was watching some blond guy walking his dog
my thoughts were on what I should do
My eyes happened down to my wandering feet
I saw something dark on my shoe

With a scowl of disgust, I looked at the dog
who had left his mark on the trail
The man looked my way as he shrugged and he grinned
the dog stood there wagging his tail

I sat on the park bench, the man joined me there
He offered to wipe off my shoe
He said, "After all, it's my dog who's at fault"
his handkerchief wiped off the poo

I thanked him for doing the dirtiest work
he smiled and said "I am to blame"
He offered to walk with me back to my car
I left without learning his name

Default the lonly butterfly

peace be upon u friends & brothers i have a gift for u i hope it will make you happy. it is a poem of mine
the garden is decorated with flowers
the butterfly dances alone
a hopless butterfly tries to fly
fellig in a sea with no borders
it's afraid it doesn't know the place
my butterfly don't be afraid & take the pace
you'll get happiness at any case
if you give faith in your heart a large surface
let's soar above the hills
where there is no who shills
there is no who stealls
our big and coastly dreams
awake & dry up your tears
take my hand to penetrate all airs

thanks for readig

Default The Love/Hate Relationship

My love, he brings me laughter
My love brings me to tears
He makes me want to live again
He melts and feeds my fears
He makes me very happy
And sometimes very sad
Makes me feel so good at times
and others, oh so bad
In many ways, he knows me
In others, he does not
Even so, for this I know
For me he cares a lot
He seems to know what goads me
He brings to me such joy
He treats me like his treasure
And, then again, his toy
He knows just how to lift me up
Or bring me to my knees
To make me want to give my all~
~It's him I want to please
My love can make me feel so weak
Or make me feel so strong
Sometimes I long to hear him say~
~To him, I still belong
He worries me and causes pain
He heals me with his touch
Makes me feel my love's in vain
Or that I'm loved so much
He treats me like a woman
And scolds me like a child
Gives his love so tenderly~
~His passion, oh so wild
My love, he shakes my spirit
He soothes my very soul
Makes me fall to pieces
And, then again, feel whole
He breaks my heart and mends it
Hurts my pride and attends it
Breaks me down with a word or look
And builds me up again
Reads me like an open book
Reveals me and then~
~Reaches for me and steals my heart
But gives me wings to soar
For this, I love him more
My love, I so adore

SHIMMER DREAMS

In the late night hours
I lie awake
thinking of you
whispering about you
quietly going to my window
I look up at the shining stars.
I pick a special one
it seems to shimmer more than the others
I make a very special wish
praying somehow you'll be thinking of me too
I just want to have you near me
but all I have are elusive dreams of you
I can only wonder
how holding you close would feel
a long embrace where neither of us
want to let go and it seems so real
I don't want to be anywhere else
I only want to be touching you
do you feel my dreams when I'm so near?
can you see it in my eyes?
wonder if you ever hear
what I always have inside?

TOMORROWS

I looked deeply into you eyes
and saw all of my tomorrows
I listened to all of your sighs
and you cured all my sorrows
your kisses told me things I never dreamed
the passion in your eyes always gleamed
your warm arms there to hold me
this the moonlight had told me
we walked hand in hand together
knowing it was all meant forever
