Winter Sleigh Ride

http://i485.photobucket.com/albums/rr214/MaRionnekesPict/Winter/8aab6763.gif (broken link)
We wait by the fire for our horse-drawn carriage...
On an evening like this, it's a perfect marriage.
We snuggle in close for a peaceful sleigh ride
while snow gently falls and with the moon as our guide.
The Clydesdale's, with their enormous feet,
stomp proudly through the path they beat.
They nod their heads in horse-like fashion,
and pull our sleigh with powerful passion.
Through a star-lit forest and over a frozen lake,
leaving swirls of snow-dust in our wake.
We close our eyes...and listen to the blades in the snow...
I hear the "whiz", then "swish" as the horses slow...
We pull up our blankets, it's getting colder,
I even pull mine up past my shoulder!
"Dashing through the snow"...you sing...
I laugh, and add..."Bells on bob-tails ring"...
Our noses now cold and turning bright red,
we're relieved to see the fire ahead.
It burns to greet us on this frost-bit night..
and it surely is a welcomed sight.
The driver reigns in the horses, with a gentle hand,
and without question, they come now to a stand.
We exit the cab, into the snowy landscape,
the driver tips his hat and tightens his cape...
with a wink and a nod, he drives out of sight,
yelling, "Goodnight to all..and to all a Good Night!"

there ya go, huck...

great ditty there, too

Songs of the Season..

When I hear a song of the season, it lifts my spirit...
I become full of joy the instant that I hear it.

When the choir sings "Silent Night",
I see baby Jesus, bathed in light...
I see the Kings and the animals awed by the sight,
that are gathered to witness Him on this Holiest night.

"Have a Holly-Jolly Christmas" and "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree"
are two holiday songs that fill me with glee.

"I'll Be Home For Christmas" brings to my eye a tear...
being away from loved ones is the theme that's very clear...
but then, "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer"
is full of Christmas Cheer!

"The Twelve Days of Christmas" my radio now sings...
'six geese a laying....FIVE GOLDEN RINGS'...

"Santa Clause is Coming to Town"
is enough to erase a small child's frown,
and remember that sleigh-time classic, "Jingle Bells"...
that we used to follow with "Bat Man Smells"?!......lol..

They're songs that take you back in time,
and warm your heart, rhyme by rhyme...
Holiday classics that everyone knows,
and sing 'round the tree as it twinkles and glows...

We'll play "Rock -n- Roll Christmas", and drink egg nog,
and sing "Frosty The Snowman" as we burn the Yule Log...
Before you must sing "Old Lang Syne", and bid this year adeu...
sing out a Merry Christmas Song, and bring out the spirit in you!!
