Several years ago, I worked next to a woman who slaughtered the English language on a daily basis.
One day, when she returned to work after a visit to her Pulmonologist, I asked her if he had prescribed anything different for her asthmatic problems.
She replied, "Yes, he wants me to use Prestone"!
Hmmmm...Her Pulmonologist has prescribed antifreeze for her medical condition?
That certainly sounded...unorthodox...or possibly...questionable.
So, I asked if I could see the prescription that had been written for her, and--sure enough--he had prescribed Prednisone.
For several weeks she told all of us how her breathing had markedly improved, now that she was taking "Prestone".
You can't make up stuff this bizarre...unfortunately.
You're right. You can't make it up.
I was watching a game show yesterday and a contestant bragged that she was a recent "Summa Coo Loddy" college graduate. The incredulous host thought he heard it wrong, and asked her to repeat it. So she did.
Maybe they should do background checks on their writers!
At the very least, they should verify the literacy of the folks whom they hire for that type of task!
In my last job prior to retirement, I was an integral part of the hiring process, and I administered writing tests to prospective hires. Trust me--we eliminated a lot of folks whose literacy was so poor that they would have embarrassed the agency if they had been hired. In fact, some applicants never even got called in for an interview/writing test because the cover letters that they submitted were barely literate!
"Satin has firm grip of persons thinking it is wrong and a crime."
Hmmm...Given its shiny nature, you would think that satin would provide only a very tenuous grip.
I guess that I have just learned something new regarding that type of fabric.
