I saw a car ad last night for some sort of 2-door Mercedes (I think) where the Jon Hamm voice-over is saying something like "More power, more performance, less doors." Fewer! Fewer doors!
This seems to be happening more and more in ad campaigns. It's irritating to me because I cannot find a job in the communications field and I know the difference!
When people say "I could care less" when they mean to say "I couldn't care less".
This one bugs the heck out of me, too.

Verbage actually means to add excessive wordiness. I hear it all the time where the intent is for someone to add some extra meaningful data.
Peruse is usually used to mean to quickly scan something. However, the American Heritage Dictionary defines it as "To read or examine, typically with great care." But to make it more difficult for people, the Merriam-Webster dictionary offers two definitions which are diametrically opposed: "1. a: to examine or consider with attention and in detail : study b: to look over or through in a casual or cursory manner." No wonder people consider English to be one of the hardest languages to learn. Those who define its words can't even determine what they mean.
