I enjoy using the word 'harridan.' It means roughly 'scolding woman.' I first saw it used by a well-known internet poster from Seattle, Tommy008, in connection with Dr. Laura. The thing I like about the word is that, at least to me, it sounds just like what it is.

Interestingly there are a plethora of synonyms out there for 'harridan.'
