Hi, I am not sure if this is the "appropriate" forum to ask this question/assistance however, if there are those who may be able to help me out, that would be great. This is also somewhat of an unusual request as well.
I have started to put together a book, so-called about domestic violence (I realize that this is not the most romantic topic) however, it is a topic I feel very strongly about, and one that I believe (especially with the increase of domestic violence = economic times) that needs further articles and stories.
What I am hoping to accomplish is to put together a compilation of stories by women, and certainly men are more than welcome to contribute (although we do not frequently hear of these cases as much as they exist); stories by those who have rebuilt their lives, and would thus be the 'survivors' of domestic violence.
I want to be able to publish this book and have it be a vehicle to help others who may be going through violence know, realize and understand that it does not matter what the background, walks of life, status, job/career they have...that domestic violence does not just happen to "certain" people, or groups, or ethnicities or cultures. I want someone to be able to read this book and realize, wow, that story sounds like mine and THAT person made it, maybe I can. I want the book to represent strength, hope and perhaps even a little humor, not that domestic violence has any humor to it, but that we can ultimately find humor in and with ourselves rather than blame and be angry with ourselves for living in a violent situation.
If anyone reading this thread would like to contact me privately, I will certainly respond. If anyone reading this thread knows of someone who has experienced and emerged from DV, please feel free to pass this along to them.
I believe that writing, in general, is a wonderful tool to help create, stretch our imaginations AND in a situation such as living through domestic violence, writing can be the catharsis to help heal.
Again, I hope this forum thread is an appropriate place to request this assistance.
Hi, thanks for your thoughts; I have also posted in Relationships however, no responses yet, including privately. Any other suggestions?
