NO, I live SE of Cheyenne some distance out on the plains (closer to Pine Bluffs) where the winds are strong and gusty for much of the year. I do own other properties in Cheyenne, including having owned a 250' x 200' indoor riding arena with a strongbarn roof which has a lot of hail dents in it ... and we used to have to replace the opaque fiberglass lighting panels in the roof due to hail ... not wind ... damage.

What you're missing, Wyomama2, is that everybody around here knows that the winds are strong, persistent, and gusty in this area ... and so all roofs are installed to address that issue. Wind related failures are not really very common in properly installed roofs ... and you can drive through the Cheyenne area and see many that are clearly quite a few years old. Roofing companies in this area know that they must use double or triple the number of fasteners per shingle to securely fasten a roof to minimize wind damage issues. Nobody installs roofs professionally with a guarantee without taking appropriate measures to secure the underlayment and the starter course and the shingles because they don't want failures ... and roofs around here have withstood 100+ mile per hour gusts many times. FWIW, architects and engineers know to specify 100 mph roof loads for any structure in the area, so buildings and residences are designed for the high winds here.

The weather wild card for roof damage, however, is Hail. It's difficult to predict it's occurence and severity, and we know that storm cells have very localized intensity around here. All the forecasters can do is alert us to hail conditions and potential size expectations. When wind driven hail hits a roof, especially if it's sizable hail (golf ball or larger) ... that's when the roof damage can happen.

Missing hmmm....well I lived out on Happy Jack Road and our shingles had to be repaired due to the wind, more than once, as well as a few of our neighbors. We were also in construction and knew roofers and had friends with homes in town call us asking which roofing company to use because they had dammaged shingles shingles, due to the wind. I never saw hail bigger than dime sized(if that) when we lived there, and I never had hail dammage to any of our vehicles or our home. Or anyone else's that I know. So we all speak on experience on here and it is my experience that the wind is a lot more damaging to everything there than hail is.

FYI our architectural shigles were rated for 100+ mph winds. I want to say they were 120.
