I plan to visit Midwest in June of this year as I have heard your town is the 'greatest'! Searching for a place to call home, a friendly place too live and work, a place free from the 'hassels'(did I mispell that?)and lifestyles of California living, a place where people value family and friends.
I was raised in a small-town enviornment, remembering the simple things that gave so much pleasure to my family and just mabe I can find those pleasures again, like having 'Sunshine' to warm your heart and soul on a cold winters' morning!
See you in Jun`e, Sincerely, Bill

Are you certain you mean the town of Midwest? It essentially is an oil-camp with approximately 200+ souls living there. Edgerton is essentially an oil-camp now as well with 150+souls...and the two are just a mile apart. There is a school in Midwest (I graduated from it - 22 graduates that year).
There is one gas station, one diner in Midwest. There is one gas station at a hotel, one diner, and one tiny grocery store in Edgerton.
There is a stench of money wafting through the air - H2S04 gas usually permeates everything until you are so used to it you can't smell it anymore. Used to be the only landscape were hundreds of pumping units. That has decreased, though the last time I went through there were more C02 rigs setting up for drilling.
If you are in the oil industry, you will fair well there. I don't know of many who willingly stayed after they retired. You are 40 miles from Casper and roughly 60 miles or so from Sheridan....those are pluses.
I wish you luck...but definitely visit the town before making any decisions.

Totally agree with HighlandLady. If you are in fact talking about the TOWN of Midwest, you are quite possibly the farthest you can get from "lifestyles of California living". I interviewed for a job down there for enhanced oil recovery using CO2 & water injection...took me about 5 minutes to have my mind made up, and it was 100% because of the location. Not much to look at there. I'm sorry if I offended anyone here from Midwest, but that is just my opinion of the town. But like HighlandLady said, do yourself a favor and visit the town first before committing to anything. Maybe you'll find something there for you after all.

Used to be a good fishing pond there. But the last time I was there was 1997. Peaceful. But watch out for rattlers.

What are you guys talking about?! Midwest is a booming metropolis... they even have a golf course. The course could also double as a dirt track for go karts, but whatever.

Seriously lovinchi, I don't know if I would recommend the area.... It would be a huge culture shock and it's mainly an oil camp. One of our customers is doing a huge Co2 injection job in that area so I spent a little time down there late last summer... If I was working in the area I would probably consider something north or south of there in the country. There's some nice scenery around there... Midwest and Edgerton aren't exactly the bright spot though. Casper is close enough to drive from as well.... Just my $.02.......

Seems like it would be a speed trap as it drops from 65mph to 35mph on the downgrade into Edgerton. Never saw anyone pulled over though.

Since we're reviving this, I found out that the county schools pay an isolation bonus for teachers in Midwest.
