Thanks Elkhunter, you always come up with the best ideas...

We've heard that tornado siren a little too often lately here in Gillette. Trying to be cool, calm, and collected about it.

Was in WalMart the other day and thought I heard it again. But it was just a wheelchair whizzing by, thankfully. The cashier had thought the same thing earlier too. Now we hear it even when we really don't...

It's 11pm and it looks like everything is settled in Wyoming.

There are still some active alerts in Montana but by looking at the radar, Hardin, Custer, Lame Deer are all getting blasted. But those storm cells are all moving straight east instead of down toward us for a change.

So right now, all is quiet in Wyoming. At least in North Central, and North Eastern area from I-90 north.

It's now 1:38 am and the weather alert radio lit off.

Severe weather alert for Cambell and Cook county. There is a severe storm South West of Broadus moving South East. Damaging winds, hail the size of ping pong balls.

By the radar, this storm is tracking straight towards Devils tower. I've watched it on Radar since it was up by Hardin Mt early in the evening. This storm has doubled in size.

At 4am, 6-18 my weather radio lit off. Severe Weather alert for Big Horn County Montana. When I checked the Radar, there was a large cell just north of Hardin. Now, at 4:30 the cell is over Lame Deer, Busby area and tracking South East.

Seems that several storms have followed this exact pattern lately.

Default NE Wyoming and Western SD

Listening to the weather radio this morning... looks like NE Wyoming and Western SD may have some busy weather over the next few days.

Large hail, damaging winds, and the chance for severe thunderstorms that could possibly produce tornados. Thursday - Tuesday. So have a plan if you hear that siren go off, or see the sky looking ominous. For those of you without basements, the library here in Campbell County has one.

Flash Flood Statement National Weather Service Riverton WY 632 PM MDT Wed Jun 18 2008

Natrona WY-Johnson WY- 632 PM MDT Wed Jun 18 2008

... A Flash Flood Warning Remains In Effect Until 800 PM MDT For South Central Johnson And North Central Natrona Counties...

At 631 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler Radar Continued To Indicate A Thunderstorm Producing Steady Rain Over The Warned Area. Rainfall Amounts Between 1 And 2 Inches Have Been Indicated By Doppler Radar Over Far Southern Johnson County Around Hole In The Wall. Flash Flooding Of Murphy Creek And Posey Creek Are Likely Occurring Along With Other Area Washes And Small Streams.

Locations In The Warning Include But Are Not Limited To Hole In The Wall

A Flash Flood Warning Means That Flooding Is Imminent Or Occurring. If You Are In The Warning Area Move To Higher Ground Immediately. Residents Living Along Streams And Creeks Should Take Immediate Precautions To Protect Life And Property. Do Not Attempt To Cross Swiftly Flowing Waters Or Waters Of Unknown Depth By Foot Or By Automobile.

Excessive Runoff From Heavy Rainfall Will Cause Flooding Of Small Creeks And Streams... Country Roads... As Well As Farmland Along The Banks Of Creeks And Streams.

Flooding Is Occurring Or Is Imminent. Most Flood Related Deaths Occur In Automobiles. Do Not Attempt To Cross Water Covered Bridges... Dips... Or Low Water Crossings. Never Try To Cross A Flowing Stream... Even A Small One... On Foot. To Escape Rising Water Move Up To Higher Ground.

In Hilly Terrain There Are Hundreds Of Low Water Crossings Which Are Potentially Dangerous In Heavy Rain. Do Not Attempt To Travel Across Flooded Roads. Find Alternate Routes. It Takes Only A Few Inches Of Swiftly Flowing Water To Carry Vehicles Away.
