You'll see guys wearing baseball caps at the table almost anywhere in the country, but not all guys. I still consider it poor table manners, and I don't think you'd see me, my son or my grandson wearing a cap at the table -- but I wouldn't put money on that.

The first time I met my late wife's son, we went out for dinner in New Jersey. He was 13 at the time. Big fight between he and his mother -- she asked him to remove his cap at the table and he didn't want to. It's not just Wyoming and South Dakota. I've been in most of the 50 states and seen it everywhere, in both rural and urban areas.

I agree with wyonewk, It is poor table manners to wear a hat at the table. Unless you are a woman who is on chemotherapy there is no excuse.
If one of my kids refused to take his hat off at the table I would slap it off his head. My aim is not good, it might take a few slaps and some of those would probably hit his head.

Hmmmmm.... Not sure, but I think that might be poor table manners too. But you made me chuckle.

It might be, I agree.
But my kids learn fast, I'd only have to do it once.
