I remember last year when i moved down here, I had the bright idea of opening all the windows all spring to save money on my AC bills... until I realized tons of green stuff covered my apartment. I learned the hard way leaving your windows open with it being windy wasnt a smart idea. Any idea when the pollen starts to get bad in the Fort Mill area?

Should happen any time now, enjoy it while it is low. Pollen count was moderate yesterday and with some rain today it should remain low. But with temps near 80 later this week, it could go up. It will happen eventually. It was so bad last year because it didn't rain enough to wash the pollen out of the air.

For those of you with allergies and take Ztytec, Costco has the Kirkland brand of the same ingredient for less than 1/3 the price. I bought a bottle of 365 tablets for 1/2 the price of a 6 month supply of Zyrtec.

Last year's pollen count was the highest in 50 some odd years. I usually open my windows as well but I couldn't at all last spring. This will be my 4th spring here and prior to last year's it hasn't been that bad, at least not for such a prolonged time.

It will be here soon ... look at the pine trees and watch for those yellow looking pod things (I don't know what that is called.) That is what you described as covering your apartment. It is a mess on cars and if anyone opens their windows they get a good dose covering everything.

Pine pollen is not suppose to be very allergenic. Pine pollen is very heavy so it falls to the ground very quickly, unless there is a nice breeze blowing and it's everywhere. But when the pine is pollinating other trees such as oak, ash and elm are also pollinating. It is these other trees with very small and light pollen that you don’t see that are the worse offenders and cause the bad allergy problems.

When I turned on my windshield wipers yesterday the "yellow" streak formed on the side of the glass. It's coming
