where do low income persons go for counselling and therapy in York County or the area?

Catawba Center on Dotson St. was tried and they are unable to help.
Private practice is very high per hour and would wipe out our monthly income.

Where do poor people go for help?

Thanks.

Give the Saluda Center a call. In the past they have treated people referred from DSS. Tele: 327-6103

The Saluda Center

The Dove Center in Rock Hill is a non-profit group. Tele: 329-9727

The Dove Center Fees/Locations

Churches in the area that can afford it have counselors on staff.

I'll try those thanks.

We are religious but we do not want religion to be part of a solution.
We have a friend who feels the answer is through religion and we are concerened that it should not be a part of therapy, or other remedy.
The issues were not caused by lack of religeon so we would rather leave religeon out of the cure. The issues are too serious, to butt heads with someone who thinks it is a cure all.

We need a place that takes Medicare. There was a thread a few weeks ago about a child needing some help. We tried the place on Piedmont Blvd. and they are the children's division of the Catawba Center. So, that won't work. We called that place in Charlotte that was also shown in that thread from back in May, and back on page 5-6 or so. They said none of their people take Medicare or ANY insurance and could not even recommend anyone in the Charlotte area.

Just looked at Dove center. $65 an hour is the problem. We need someone that takes Medicare and someone who is not going to use religeon as a cure, when it is not a cure, because lack of it was not the cause.

I don't know where you live but you could contact your local York County Council person and find out what is available. That person should know.

We have a Catawba Mental Health Board. Their duties include to recruit and promote local financial support for the programs, and to promote, arrange and implement working agreements with other social service agencies.

York County Government

If that don't work go higher to the SC Dept of Mental Health. Or contact your SC State Senator or Representative.
