I am a single mom of a 3-year-old. I split the time with her dad, so I am trying to find a mutually convenient daycare for us. I commute to uptown Charlotte, and he lives off of Tryon and 485 but commutes to Fort Mill right behind Ballantyne. I liked the convenient location of Bromley since it's right near everything and a Goddard School, but from what I keep reading it can be a bit noisy over there. I like to be near "stuff", but I also don't like hearing a lot of traffic when I open the windows. I also hate apartments with thin walls with a passion! The other ones I have come across are Peachtree and Millcrest. Since half the week i'm a "single young professional" I would like to be somewhere that may offer opportunities to meet other people. Fort Mill will mean I am literally 25 minutes minimum from anyone I know. I currently live in Matthews, NC and am not familiar with Fort Mill at all, which is why I want to rent for a year or two before making any longer term living decisions. I also don't want to pay an arm and a leg for rent since my goal is to buy a house as soon as possible. I appreciate any advice!
When you say he commutes to Fort Mill behind Ballantyne, do you mean the Fort Mill area in the 29707 zip? Because being in the Gold Hill area isn't really all that close to that area. I know Bromley is quite expensive for 3 bedrooms ($1500/mo), not sure on something smaller. And it's very hard to get out of Bromley and make a left if you're wanting to get on 77 early in the morning. Have you thought about the Indian Land area closer to Ballantyne?
I think to meet men you may have to head up to Charlotte on the weekends. Fort Mill is a great place to live, but not much in the way of night life.
