I live in Rock Hill and work in Charlotte. My employer takes out NC tax but not SC tax. Just did my taxes on Turbotax. Says I owe SC $228?

Did you do an NC state tax and and SC state tax? Did you have income in SC (banking, home business)? If you have one, does your spouse work in SC?

I live in SC and work in NC. I file in NC only.

I would strongly recommend speaking with a tax accountant rather than relying on a public forum to guide everyone with your tax questions. Each person's circumstances are different which will then affect how an individual's tax picture is represented. I would hate to see people take the wrong direction on this and be subject to penalties later on.

I agree with bibit. If you use a CPA, he/she can answer these questions for you, unlike a box or website. I have used H&R Block online in the past, but that was when I lived/worked in the same state, rented an apt. instead of owning a home, etc.

Sal, I have to agree with bibit and groove. I would definitely recommended you speak to a tax advisor to get yourself on the right track with this particular issue.
