Recommendations for kitchen Makeover (countertops, Home Depot, contractors)

If you have had a great experience with a kitchen remodel, I need a recommendation. I need new countertops and want to take out a pantry and add counter space and cabinets there. It's a small kitchen. My sister went with Lowes. They're spending 20,000+. Screwed it up!! Had to re-order cabinets, some were installed upside down, drill holes looking for a stud in the wall. No kitchen for weeks and don't expect replacement cabinets for 4 MORE weeks. I won't start until probably September this year.

We used home depot and had them replace the counter top, back splash, and sink only. They did a pretty good job although we had to have the backsplash people back because the caulk they used didn't match the grout at all. I'd be very nervous using home depot though to add cabinets or remove a pantry.

But the problem I've found is most contractors these days aren't interested in any "small" jobs. And if they agree to do it, they price it really expensive to make it "worth their time". We haven't been able to find anyone to renovate a small bathroom at a reasonable price

We just did our countertops, but kept our cabinets. We used Imported Stone on Westinghouse Blvd. They were very thorough and professional.
