The AARP will help you file your taxes free of charge from 9-5 Tuesday and Thursday on the 2nd floor of the Baxter Village library. You do not need to be a senior citizen, but priority is given to seniors and low-income persons. No return is started after 4pm. We went and had ours done yesterday. They were very nice and thorough and I finally undersdtand the NC/SC thing. NC taxes you on income, so you pay income tax there. SC taxes you on everything, however, they credit the income tax paid to NC, so you do not have to pay income taxes to both states.
