Looking for some great areas around the Lake Wylie area. Fort Mill looks good, but it seems to be exploding with people moving in. Schools of course are important, and the Clover schools seem to be well liked. Moving down around July. Any ideas for places to check out would be welcome. I've been looking online quite a bit and thought I would ask the locals and recent transplants.
Thanks

I'm not sure what your price range is, but my neighborhood is The Landing. Our n'hood website lists houses for sale: www.thelandingonlakewylie.com. I'll be happy to list more for you but it would help if I knew your price range. We've been here 3 years and LOVE it.

As was stated by another poster...if you can give an apx. price range that would help on giving you suggestions.

Other things that can help are (if they happen to pertain)...job location for commute times, do you want new, or are you open to resell?, land/no land/how much land?,...pretty much the more information the better.

I know you posted this before and I didn't think DH would go for it, but I have a few questions. I can't seem to get enough info from the website.

Does everyone have access to a boatdock in your neighborhood?

Are there any plots over 1/2 acre of land?

Dawn

Default SWhite

I have a 3 bedroom 2 bath house for rent in a quiet community called River Hills Plantation. It is a guarded, gated community on Lake Wylie near the Buster Boyd Bridge. It is in the Clover School District. If you are interested let me know.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.
Price range 300k - 400k. We are looking for great schools, new home or resell, a nice lot maybe something around .50 acre. My work will take me all over NC and SC. I've heard great things about Fort Mill from friends who live there. But it seems that alot of people have moved there and it is getting crowded. We live in a great rural community in CT and we would like to find the same feeling down in the Carolinas.

We live in the town of Lake Wylie. We relocated from the San Francisco area 8 years ago and love it here. It was easy to acclimate to the area and also easy to find new friends (lots of transplants).
You should have no problem finding a home in your price range that meets your criteria. The schools are highly rated and the taxes are extremely reasonible (area is unincorporated so there is no city tax).

To see what is available use the following link: Allen Tate Family of Companies

Select: Advanced Property Search
Select: SC - Charlotte region
Select: Lake Wylie Area 15
and fill in the price range

In your price range it is a buyer's market so you may want to use a higher price for the search range.

Hope this helps. It will give you a good overview of the area.

If you need info on a specific subdivision or area, just post a query and someone should give you the specifics.

A good point of reference....if it's in close enough proximity to Charlotte (think commuters)...than the area is growing. Clover is a bit more rural than Fort Mill (as it is just a tad farther from Charlotte than Fort Mill is). But Clover schools are also starting to feel the strains of new growth as well.

If you wish to stay within the Clover schools...that also includes Lake Wylie and certain parts of York, SC.

I think Belmarin has given you some great advice (I have found the Allen Tate site one of the easiest to use). Also if you are looking for a certain lot size...this can also be input on the Allen Tate site.
