Oh you are very welcome...although I am surprised that others haven't provided other subdivisions such as (including some that have already been mentioned:

Baxter Village
Beacon Knoll
Knightsbridge
Sutton Place
The Reserve at Gold Hill
Waterstone

the above are all within the Fort Mill area and include pools within the subdivisons (with possible other amenities as well)

Tega Cay, SC: is a city upon itself that sits off of Lake Wylie (children attend the Fort Mill School District). Some of the subdivisons you may be intersted in: LakeShore, Seven Coves, Serenity Point, Watertrace. Here is a link for the Parks and Rec department too: Home

You mention your husband will be working in the Charlotte area but you don't say where...hopefully it will be on the side of Charlotte making his commute easy.

Your price range is very doable...so it will just about boil down to what works best for you.

Good Luck to you!

In your price range, you will have great options in the Fort Mill/Tega Cay area. Baxter is nice in that the elementary school and library are there also. You get an instant sense of community that comes from people pooling in from all over the country.

While I would like to agree with you on this, I do have to say that the people who have lived here for a LONG time, don't necessarily share this view. They would rather we go back to where we came from. I don't blame them. The schools are becoming overcrowded, the streets too crowded, and the northern attitude is starting to show.

I moved here to become part of what I heard and desired about Fort Mill. I can always tell a northerner who has brought down their hyped-up, selfish attitude.

Sorry I guess this was sort of a vent post as well. I hope I am not offending anyone with this post....

Default Check out Lake Wylie

We moved here from Seattle last year - I work in Fort Mill but we chose to purchase in Lake Wylie, SC. It is a nice, small area with excellent schools (as highly rated as Fort Mill). I love driving over the lake each day! We really liked The Landing - I think you could get something in there for high 3s or low 4s. A few other nice neighborhoods too. A wonderful daycare - the giving tree - where both my kids go right now.

Default Regent park is great.

My wife and I are relocating from the NW suburbs of Chicago and have done extensive research on where to live in the Charlotte area. The housing market is still strong relative to the rest of the US. What will make Regent Park so attractive is the new bridge on the east that connects to NC and the proximity to the downtown via a train station. The old PTL grounds is kinda spooky and the locals want to keep newbees out. East of the bridge is going to be a grocery store, a home improvement store and outside shopping. Across the street homes starting at 750k is just beginning to take shape. No lien problems at all. You have to buy a house by June 7th to get into the good elementary school until the new one opens in fall of 2009. The old Marriot tower is staying to become senior housing, but that still could change. No more winters.
