There was a news story on one of the Charlotte TV stations recently that stated that Walmart has no plans to build anything new in Rock Hill. The Newport Rock Hill will be getting a refresh this summer but no new stores being built.

That article is from 4 July 2016. I would consider that proposed store delayed or cancelled.

I thought I read an article saying they decided not to ever build the Mount Holly Rd one.

As far as the Celanese one, its fascinating that they've done all that site work, parking lot, etc. and have no buildings. Surely someone is having to pay on that loan, with no way to recoup.

Walmart plans to remodel Rock Hill SC site, no new stores | The Herald

Quote:
There are no plans for new stores in Rock Hill, said a statement from Walmart spokesperson Phillip Keene earlier this year.

“Although we no longer plan to build new stores in Rock Hill, we are committed to continuing our investment in South Carolina,” Keene said.

A 41,839-square-foot grocery store with a pharmacy drive thru should remain doable.

Publix Super Markets does have a 39m (39,000-square-foot) prototype for its Publix supermarkets. Is Publix doable at Ebinport Market?

Looks like the site is available for lease:

Doesn't look like anything has changed since the last time I posted... Walmart pulled out and nobody wants to lease it so far
