You'll have to forgive me for not knowing where the panhandle is. My folks have a home in Newport, and do well with the Mohu Leaf (though I strongly recommend the amplified version).
The Panhandle is the northern section of Lancaster County (from VanWyck up to the tip top of the county).
I would think a Mohu Leaf would work quite well in that area. We used one in Fort Mill for a couple of years after we cut the cord and had no issues. I should think northern Lancaster County would enjoy the same quality signals.
I live near the panhandle and use an antenna (along with Netflix and Amazon Prime) since the local cable company and Direct and Dish have priced themselves right out of my budget (LOL). Go to https://www.antennaweb.org/. It's a great website and will help you determine what antenna to buy based on your location. My indoor antenna picks up around 23 stations, although some are duplicate PBS stations out of Charlotte and Columbia. Good luck!
My moms house is by Winthrop and a 60/70 mile indoor antenna gets MOST channels, but struggles with 64.1-4 and doesn't get whatever COZI-TV is aired on. I even tried adding an amplifier, which was able to get a few more stations like BUZR in clearly. My last option is an outdoor antenna. I do not want her paying Comporium that kind of money.

It's maddening.
I have a rooftop antenna with an amplifier, and I can't get Cozi - which is 12 miles away from my home. Parents have a lousy little Mohu antenna (with neighbor's house right on top of theirs), and they get Cozi, albeit poorly.
I would suggest the Clearstream 2MAX antenna sold at Walmart for $79. It is a good UHF-VHF combo antenna, with 2 UHF loops and a single VHF dipole. Add a Channel Master distribution amplifier to stabilize the signal. It comes with a stand and can be used as an indoor or outdoor antenna. You should get all major Charlotte channels, as well as possibly neighboring markets Columbia or Greenville-Spartanburg. Those flat panel antennas such as Mohu may not be as reliable. But if distant channels are a concern, a stronger antenna such as Winegard 7694 or 7698 may be recommended.
