Hi all, we are considering the possilbility of relocating to the Charlotte area we have 4 boys 12, 9, 6 & 2 and they are very involved in sports here on Long Island, NY. I am looking for a place with great schools and great sports as well (football, lacrosse, baseball...) can anyone help?

We also relocated -- from Plainview in 1998. We live in Hunter Oaks, which is in Union County NC. The schools my children attend have all of the sports you mentioned above. My sons play football, basketball and lacrosse. In addition there are rec leagues (check out Wesley Chapel Weddington Athletic Association - News) in the area. I'm not sure which sports SC schools have -- maybe someone with children in those schools will respond.

You may have better luck posting this in the Charlotte forum.

Thanks, are you happy with your move and have your children adjusted?

We love it here -- for us it was the right move, without question. Our kids were very young when we moved though (3 and 1) so it really didn't affect them at all (now the boys are 13 and 11, and our daughter -- the only southern born one of us all -- is 8).

I have found that the other kids are welcoming to newcomers in general. Honestly there are so many people moving here that I doubt if they would be the only "new" kid in the class. For sure, visit a few times before you make a final decision.
