Description: For more than a quarter-century, the Comprehensive Cancer Center Advisory Board has hosted this charitable event to support cancer research and patient and family services. Its success is a testament to the giving nature of Birmingham’s citizens who are always quick to get behind a good charitable cause. The idea of the ArtBLINK Gala is that several of Alabama’s top artists create a new work of art in 90 minutes right before the eyes of the Gala attendees. A celebrity host then auctions off the art. Of course, there is live music, cocktails, and fine dining to accompany the evening’s festivities. Proceeds benefit the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dress is black-tie optional, which really means black tie in a city as formal as Birmingham can be. Tickets are $150.
