Description: What started as a crawfish boil in the backyard nearly 20 years ago has blossomed into one of Birmingham’s largest outdoor musical festivals, generating over $450,000 for local charities in the process. Imagine tons upon tons of delicious crawfish prepared for several thousand of your closest friends while you listen to some of the bigger names in music. That’s what the Schaeffer Crawfish Boil is all about: good food, friends, and music. Recent artists include Fergie, Train, Snoop Dogg, Katy Perry, Jason Mraz, LL Cool J, Goo Goo Dolls, and many other pop, rap, and contemporary rock acts. Recently, the event has been held outside at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex. General tickets are $20 in advance, and VIP tickets are $75 per day. Tickets cover all artists’ performances. Nope, admission to the festival does not include a plate of hot Louisiana crawfish, potatoes, and corn—but nice try.
