Description: Located in Crestline Village in Mountain Brook, Dyrons’s Lowcountry offers the regional cuisine of coastal South Carolina and Georgia that is influenced by a proximity to water. But really, there are plenty of nods to Alabama and even New Orleans cuisine, too. Crabs, shrimp, oysters, and fish are predominant, as are the rice and grits that fans of this style of cooking love. Start with the East Indies salad with fresh Alabama jumbo lump crap and scallions or cornmeal-crusted oysters over a black-eyed pea salad with remoulade. Crab cakes, crawfish tails in étoufée, or Duroc pork over grits are fantastic. Other mouth-watering options include braised duck pasta, pan-fried Georgia mountain trout, wood-grilled quail, and Gullah étoufée. Owners Dyron and Sonya Powell have created that rare place where customers can close their eyes and point to an item on the menu, and without going wrong—everything is good. Look for daily specials, a raw bar, and now, a Sunday brunch.
