Description: It’s impossible to miss the luxury jets and other small aircraft zooming over the top of your car as you drive along Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard just north of Scottsdale Municipal Airport. The airport is home base to about 450 planes. It handles approximately 200,000 takeoffs and landings a year surrounded by the Scottsdale Airpark, an industrial park that is home to 30 national/regional corporations and nearly 2,200 small- and medium-size businesses. Commercial charters take off on sightseeing tours from the airport, handling about 10,000 passengers annually. The control tower operates 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. The airport features a large parking lot, an array of specialty shops, a restaurant, maintenance support and repairs, a rental-car company, limousine services, conference rooms, a pilot lounge, and aircraft cleaning and storage. The airport is especially busy in the cooler months during Scottsdale’s hectic event season as out-of-town VIPs touch down in their personal planes.
