Description: Held the second week in March, this walk may not seem much of a challenge, but remember, most of it is uphill. Beginning at Pima Community College West Campus, this 3-mile round-trip walk allows for some of the prettiest views of Tucson. When you reach the top of “A” Mountain, you’ll find a festival with food vendors, a jumping castle, massages, music, information booths, and plenty of fun. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. As part of the festivities, you can purchase a commemorative flag honoring (or in memory of) a loved one who has battled cancer. The flags are placed alphabetically along the route and can be taken home after the event. Registration begins early in the morning, followed by a group warm-up—no one wants to get injured here. Incentives are offered for those who earn the most money from pledges. There is a registration fee; all registered walkers receive a T-shirt.
