Description: This district (District 13) was organized in 1886, when this part of town was considered remote from Tucson. Today over 1,650 kids attend 1 high school, 1 junior high, and 2 elementary schools in the district.Tanque Verde has the reputation of being one of the best districts in the area. Academically, students score above the norms, and the tax base for school funding enables small class sizes and top-notch instructional resources. Its boundaries encompass the upscale neighborhoods east of Sabino Canyon, the Forty-Niner Country Club, and the Redington Pass and Old Spanish Trail areas.The curriculum includes all the basics plus Spanish (grades 1–9), fine arts, computers, and choir. Special education, gifted education, remedial reading, and speech and language therapy are offered as needed. The Tanque Verde Extended Care program offers after-school classes, summer programs, and activities. District offices are on the corner of Tanque Verde Road and Tanque Verde Loop Road. Students attend classes from early August to late May.
