Description: Considered the state’s first daily newspaper, the roots of the Star date back to 1877 when the Daily Bulletin began publishing with a firm Democratic slant. After going through a triweekly stage, the paper became known as the Arizona Daily Star in 1879. It is now a product of Lee Enterprises.The newspaper is published 7 days a week, with a Thursday “Caliente” section that serves as a weekly arts and entertainment guide. The Sunday edition includes home, travel, book review, and editorial comment sections. Watch for regular supplements geared toward everything from wedding planning to senior health. It also operates AzStarnet, the Web version of the paper and home to many other local sites. The paper is 75 cents on the street, but the Star offers a variety of subscription packages for weekly, monthly, and annual issues and daily and weekend editions. Daily circulation is more than 200,000, higher on Sunday.
