Description: Little Anthony’s is Tucson’s original retro diner. This ’50s-style eatery is located at the rear of the Gaslight Theatre, another entity owned by the same family (see the Arts & Culture chapter), and is relatively easy to find. There will be no surprises here: big juicy burgers (the names are rock ’n’ roll related), tasty sandwiches, thick shakes and malts, and even wet fries (french fries served with brown gravy on the side). Pizza, actually Grandma Tony’s pizza, another restaurant owned by the same folks, rounds out the menu. If these standards don’t appeal, you can always order from the section of the menu titled “Things Elvis Wouldn’t Eat”; you’ll have to stop in to see just what those things are!The waitstaff is young and friendly, with plenty of energy. Kids get a kick out of the DJ spinning those Golden Oldies at dinnertime while the grown-ups wax nostalgic over all the ’50s memorabilia hanging on the walls. It’s a great place to take the kids for a relatively quick something-for-everybody meal. Little Anthony’s is open for lunch and dinner on weekdays and adds a breakfast shift on Sat and Sun.
