Description: The decor is sophisticated and exotic, with Venetian-style chandeliers and hand-painted suede and silk drapes. The menu is a study in exquisite delicacies. The service is attentive but not fawning or overly friendly. These are just three of the reasons why Azzura Point is consistently named one of San Diego’s top restaurants.Chef de cuisine Martin T. Batis mixes Alaskan king salmon with Peruvian potato hash, muscovy duck breast with fava beans, grilled tenderloin of beef with caramelized onions, Roquefort tart, and morel mushrooms. You get the idea. His cooking is innovative and highly alluring. Your first time around, you might want to try the Chef’s Tasting Menu to get an overview. Then you’ll be able to order your favorite entrees with confidence. There’s also a vegetarian Herb Garden Menu (drawing from the hotel’s fragrant garden). The bittersweet chocolate hazelnut cake with caramel ice cream, chocolate lace, and coffee sauce is enough to make you want to spend the night at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort so you can go back for more. If you want just a sampling of the chef’s magic, the adjacent Azzura Point Lounge serves tapas-style hors d’oeuvres. The sommelier has managed to narrow his wine list to just 275 selections; fortunately, he’s there to help guide you to the right choice. Dinner is served nightly except Monday.
