Description: Wedged, literally, into the side of Point Happy, a mountain-ette of rock that sits right about where Indian Wells becomes La Quinta, or vice versa if heading westbound, the Cliffhouse is almost about it’s dramatic setting and gorgeous upscale ranch decor as what’s on the menu. And what’s on the menu is quite good indeed, thank you very much, a bounty of steak and fish that qualifies the restaurant to be considered a chophouse even if the New American/California touches render it just a bit more unique. Nightly happy hour in the Cactus Grill is a happening time as the bar menu is one of the best in town—have the cowboy skirt steak or the grilled salmon salad—and it’s all nicely discounted, as are drinks, and each night of the week features some unique food/drink special, as well. The views around sunset are gorgeous, and the outdoor seating pinched in between the rock and the whitewashed building, accented with water and fire features, is sublime. The point is to be happy, after all. Open for lunch and dinner.
