Description: This lovely 5-room historic property in Old Colorado City opened in 1986 by Sallie and Welling Clark set the standard for others to follow. Each suite has a queen bed, sitting area, fireplace, oversized tub for two, and plump robes for apres-bath. Despite the charming Victorian decor, it also has all the electronic amenities, too (TV, DVD, and CD players). In case you haven’t guessed, they specialize in romantic getaways. Guests can get a fresh cup of coffee 24 hours a day and there’s a bottomless cookie jar. Afternoon wine with snacks will whet your appetite for dinner and one of the area’s fine restaurants. Turn-down service includes a poem and a handmade chocolate peanut truffle. You’ll be eager to rise and shine when a full gourmet breakfast awaits you downstairs. Think ruffled crepes, German puffed pancakes with spiced apples, or maybe a sticky-bun casserole? Guests may sit on the front porch swing or rocking chair with a view of the gardens. The suites are scattered among three homes. One suite is wheelchair accessible. There are two resident cats who won’t mind if you pet them, and you can arrange to bring a pet if you like—but not children. It’s supposed to be romantic, remember?
