Description: There are a number of fine arts festivals throughout Connecticut in the summer, but this is one of the standouts. Perhaps it is Westport’s reputation as a home for both the rich and artistic, but this arts festival brings out real talent every year. Sponsored by the local merchants’ association, the festival is an annual highlight for collectors from all over New England and Manhattan. It’s been around for almost 40 years, and usually features around 150 artists displaying their work along the Westport River and in the squares of this lovely town. The event is juried, and you can try to guess which artist will win. This is also a great chance to check out the visually stunning contemporary art at the unrelated Westport Arts Center (www.westportartscenter.org), which also brings in some exciting new work.
