Description: If you love the Pittsburgh Steelers, this is your home away from home during the football season. It’s not coincidence that the owner of this pub has the same last name as the family that founded the Steelers in 1932, and has owned them since. So if you come here on any Sunday during football season, or any Monday night when the Steelers are on Monday Night Football, be prepared to be part of Steeler Nation and to scream loudly and often for the old black and gold. And be prepared to be wearing the colors proudly, because pretty much everyone else around you will be.There’s outdoor seating, however . . . so, if you feel the need, you can get away from the hubbub inside and relax out here. As you might have guessed, Rooney’s is flowing with sports memorabilia. However, this is still very much a real Irish bar, and you’ll see plenty of Irish memorabilia, as well, like road signs (in Gaelic and English) pointing the way to Galway or Ballyvaughan. The pub, in fact, was actually designed and crafted in Ireland. Along with the many items brought over from Ireland, you’ll notice memorabilia from the Rooney family, which has a tradition of being pub operators dating back to the early 20th century. When it comes to draft beers, you’ll find a definite Irish flavor to the collection here, which includes Guinness, Harp, Smithwick’s, and Rooney’s Red Ale. You can enjoy them with Irish specialties such as Rooney’s leek soup, shepherd’s pie, or corned beef and cabbage, along with other favorites such as Rooney’s burger, salads, and sandwiches. There’s live music from Tues through Sat.
