Description: The Atlantic Theater is a newly established professional theater, with a somewhat different twist to its mission. Its goal is to bring seldom-produced dramatic and comedic “straight” plays to the stage—plays that are story- and character-driven, that provoke and inspire, and that challenge the actors as well as the audience. The theater is also home to live music of all genres, and focuses on showcasing local singer/songwriters. There’s also live comedy, dance performances, children’s theater, and art exhibits. The Atlantic Theater’s emphasis is clearly on eclectic, and the desire to bring an interesting mix of arts and entertainment to North County. In addition, the theater is also home to The Jove Comedy Experience. Some recent performances have included standup comic Keith Barany, The Irish Comedy Tour, and Beatlemania. This 180-seat theater is located in the Atlantic Arts Academy, where classes for students are available in improvisation, dance, music, in addition to other disciplines.
