Description: The Miami Design Preservation League has a team of tour guides, including local historians, architects, and trained guides, who lead 90-minute tours throughout South Beach. Most tours begin and end at the MDPL Gift Shop and take place daily throughout the week (10:30 a.m. daily except 6:30 p.m. on Thurs). Tour themes range from Ocean Drive and Beyond to Lincoln Road and Collins Park. Advance reservations are not required but big groups should contact the MDPL regarding private tours. All walking tours cost $20 for adults and $15 for seniors, veterans, and students. Daily bike and Segway tours are also available. Other special tours include Deco and Design and Art Decorotica, which take place intermittently throughout the year. Check the website for details. For those who prefer independent touring, iPod rentals are available for self-guided tours from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., which takes up to 2 hours and will lead participants around the neighborhood.
