Description: Two major golf tournaments come each year to the Tampa Bay area, both run by non-profit organizations that make sure local charities benefit from the events. In March, the Professional Golfers’ Association Tour comes to the par-71 Copperhead course at Innisbrook for the Transitions Championship. Golfers this past year competed for a $5.4 million purse. Considered by many golfers to be Florida’s finest course, Copperhead is both technically demanding and aesthetically stunning. Originally designed by Larry Packard in 1970, the Copperhead’s 7,300+ yards challenge the world’s top golfers with narrow fairways lined with trees, rolling hills creating blind spots, and reflective ponds luring errant balls to a watery demise. Gallery and other tickets to the Transitions Championship can be yours by using the contact information given above. This past year’s tickets started at $69 for a daily pass (plus you’ll need a parking pass—those started at $20). Various events are held at the resort, including activities for children, along with the tournament itself.
