Description: Bauder was founded in 1963 and offers associate of arts degrees in fashion merchandising, business administration, interior design, and fashion design. Theoretical knowledge and applied skills are emphasized and provided through a variety of teaching techniques. Originally located in Phipp’s Plaza, of all places, it is now housed in the Northyards Office Park complex. Its closest neighbors are Georgia State Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) and the Coca-Cola Company headquarters. The College is on the National Register of Historic Places and is convenient to both the midtown and downtown business districts affording students many opportunities to seek employment and shopping.Atlanta itself is an important part of the students’ education: The college is in a city that’s a regional design and wholesale center—home to the Atlanta Apparel Mart, the Atlanta Merchandise Mart, and the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center, the second-largest freestanding design center in the nation. Bauder has no dormitory facilities. About 1,050 students are enrolled. The student-teacher ratio is about 18 to 1.
