Description: Founded in South Carolina in 1828, Columbia Theological Seminary relocated in 1925 to a 57-acre campus in Decatur. Affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA), Columbia has about 600 students working toward master’s (divinity, theological studies, theology) and doctoral (ministry, theology) degrees. The student-teacher ratio is about 12 to 1. Centered in biblical, historical, and theological disciplines, Columbia’s curriculum also includes innovative course work in international education, theology and media, clinical pastoral education, urban ministries, evangelism, and spiritual formation. The school attracts clergy and laypersons from across the nation to its seminars, retreats, and continuing education programs.
