Description: This Buckhead school was founded in 1969 by Elliott Galloway on the principle that children need to learn the values of common decency and dignity along with academics, the arts, physical fitness, problem solving, and collaborative skills. Serving approximately 715 students from age 2 through grade 12, the school sits on a hill overlooking Chastain Park. Galloway has 103 faculty members, more than half of whom have advanced degrees. The 8.2-acre campus includes five main buildings: the Richard C. Gresham Building, built in 1911; the W. King Sims Early Learning Center, built in 1988; the Carolyn and Ross Arnold Classroom Building and the gymnasium, built in 1996; and the Chaddick Center for the Arts, built in 2003. A 12-acre athletics complex near the school opened in spring of 2007. The school’s library maintains over 20,000 volumes and is fully networked (as are all buildings and levels of the school) and subscribes to 20-plus electronic databases for students and faculty.
