Description: Established in 1958, the Interdenominational Theological Center is made up of six separate seminaries: Gammon Theological Seminary, United Methodist, founded in 1872; Charles H. Mason Theological Seminary, Church of God in Christ, founded in 1970; Morehouse School of Religion, Baptist, founded in 1867; Phillips School of Theology, Christian Methodist Episcopal, founded in 1944; Johnson C. Smith Theological Seminary, Presbyterian Church USA, founded in 1867; and Turner Theological Seminary, African Methodist Episcopal, founded in 1894. ITC’s approximately 450 students come from 30 states and 8 nations. ITC offers master’s (divinity, Christian education, and church music) and doctoral (ministry, theology, and pastoral counseling) degrees. Since its formation in 1958, ITC has graduated more than 25 percent of all trained black ministers in the world. ITC’s James H. Costen Lifelong Education Center was used as Olympic housing during the 1996 Games.
