Description: Southern Regional Medical Center, operated by the Promina Health System, is a 331-bed, acute-care hospital and the largest facility on the metro area’s south side. The medical center provides a continuum of services, from inpatient and critical care to rehabilitation and home health. The emergency department handles more than 70,000 patients a year in the 30-bed, acute-care facility. All the unit’s nurses are trained in advanced cardiac life support, and many are certified in neonatal, pediatric, and trauma specialties. The cardiac unit handles heart catheterization and implantation of pacemakers. And a community care center reaches out to the community to provide ambulatory primary care for minor acute illnesses and stable chronic illnesses. Clayton County residents may obtain services on a sliding fee scale. The medical center also operates the Women’s Life Center, a 107,530-square-foot, three-level facility providing state-of-the-art family-oriented care. It is a marquee health facility in the Atlanta area providing complete obstetrical, gynecological, diagnostic, and educational services in one convenient location. In 2009, SRMC opened Spiver Station in Jonesboro, which includes a medical office building, a digital imaging center, and a breast health specialty center.
