Description: This well-hidden gem is the perfect spot for serious working-class French—delicious and filling food minus the attitude plus decent prices, in other words. Chef Jean-Claude Changivy presents the sort of menu found in many overcrowded backstreet Parisian restaurants, including two beef stews (done in red or white wine reductions), soups that are packed with odd bits of fresh herbs and vegetables, small side salads in bowls, and freshly steamed vegetables as complements. We especially liked the fresh fennel soup, the coq sauté aux champignons, and the “to die for” chocolate and banana crepes. The downside is that it is a favorite among the foodie crowd, and waiting times for tables at lunch can be excessive. Open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday though Friday, 5 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Brunch is served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekends.
